I AM History is a Black owned media company dedicated to celebrating Black history and culture, building a platform for the untold stories of exceptional achievements, pivotal moments, and the lasting influence of Black people around the world, throughout history to the present day.
We're building a platform for the stories, people and cultural contributions that deserve greater recognition. As our community grows, we're looking for creative people who want to help us bring these stories to new audiences.

Who we're looking for
You might be an aspiring filmmaker, a freelance editor looking to develop your portfolio, a content creator or someone with a passion for visual storytelling.
We're looking for a creative volunteer to help us turn our research, interviews and existing footage into engaging short-form videos for Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn and other digital platforms.
From uncovering overlooked historical moments to sharing inspiring interviews and cultural stories, you'll help us make Black history accessible, engaging and relevant to audiences today.
Formal qualifications aren't essential. We're interested in your skills, creativity and enthusiasm. If you have a showreel, portfolio or examples of previous work, we'd love to see them.
What you'll do

Edit short-form videos and social media clips using existing footage and interviews.

Create engaging edits with strong openings, compelling pacing and clear storytelling.

Add subtitles, music, graphics and text overlays where appropriate.

Adapt content for different social media platforms and formats.

Collaborate with us on creative ideas and ways to bring Black historical and cultural stories to life.
